We welcome players of all levels to join the London Pioneers. For more information

While The Pioneers have never looked to measure itself by what others do, say or judge, its nice to know once in a while that we do meet some of the requirements of the National Governing Body to be a Basketball club! But don't think the Pioneers will be sitting back now and enjoying this status - oh no! We've only just begun! This coming season is a great example, as now we will have over 12 teams playing, including a Mens team and a second Girls team - So that's enough chit-chat - back to work!

Mikael Williams, a player on the U16's team completed a very tough and gruelling "Coast to Coast" ride across England to help raise money for the London Pioneers! Mikael has been training with the Pioneer webmaster since the end of May, and late August they travelled North to the Cumbria National Park to start their 240 miles cross-country Mountain bike ride. "The first day was tough" said Mikael, which isn't a surprise as the North Downs in Surrey, just aren't rugged or tough enough to prepare you. Always mindful of why he was there Mikael never complained and pushed himself on. "Mikael was stronger on the last day than the first" added the Pioneer webmaster "it goes to show just how hard he pushed himself". Everyone at The Pioneers would like to thank Mikael and everyone who donated money, it will make a huge difference! If you would like to donate something there is still time! See the [photos]

The Pioneers have just joined the London Metropolitan Basketball League, which is a Men's local league. The Pioneer coaches felt that given the number of over 18's attending practices, there were enough players to support another men's team. "We feel its also a chance for some U16 and U18 players to play up against some tougher opposition" said coach Che Porteous. The fixtures should be set in a couple of weeks and we will post them on the webstie. There will be no separate practice for the team, as all Pioneer teams play a similar offence and defence, rather players will be selected to play by their respective coaches.
